Election 2017 Summary

The 2017 Nepalese legislative election was held in two phases on 26 November and 7 December 2017 to elect the 275 members of the House of Representatives.

The left alliance of CPN (Unified Marxist–Leninist) with 121 seats and CPN (Maoist Centre) with 53 seats won a combined 174 seats, forming the first majority communist government in Nepal's history. They later merged to form the Nepal Communist Party.
